Liz: emblazoned with anti-brain tumor flair.

Status update: The MRI went well on August 11.

The plan for me is to take one more cycle of Temodar (cycle 18!) and then take a break. The break is for a few reasons:

  • My body needs a break from chemotherapy.
  • I am tired of chemotherapy.
  • I am getting married soon and I want energy for the wedding and honeymoon!
I am so fortunate to be in a position to take a break. I don’t remember what a normal body feels like. I know everyone is tired after a day of work, but it is serious work to stay motivated to go on a walk. (Brett keeps me motivated.)
My next MRI will be in November. Super Awesome Nurse will be out on maternity leave by then (yeah for her!) but Erin and I have been talking about synchronizing our Kaiser visits and carpooling to Redwood City together. (Erin has a grade 4 glioblastoma.) This could work out very well, as even though we have the same neuro-oncologist, I tend to be seen by the nurse practitioner and she would probably be seen by Dr. P.
After November I will decide whether or not I will continue Temodar. If the tumor looks stable, if I like the way I feel, and I feel comfortable with the idea, I can stay off of it.
Wow.
