Dear Mr. Molina,

Until recently, I had planned to attend California State University, Sacramento, as a transfer student in the fall of 2008. In late July I was hospitalized with undiagnosed brain masses and am now suffering from seizures. Until I receive a diagnosis, get treatment, and recover, I am unable to continue with my college education.

It may be obvious, but please know that I am disappointed to not be attending Sacramento State this fall. Please withdraw my status as a student and accept my thanks for your time.

Liz Salmi is Communications & Patient Initiatives Director for OpenNotes at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. Over the last 15 years Liz has been: a research subject; an advisor in patient stakeholder groups; a leader in “patient engagement” research initiatives; and an innovator, educator and investigator in national educational and research projects. Today her work focuses on involving patients and care partners in the co-design of research and research dissemination. It is rumored Liz was the drummer in a punk rock band.
