In celebration of us
The Bay Area Brain Tumor Walk was incredible and The Liz Army team raised more than $5,000! Not bad for a first time team.
There are so many reasons why this day was special to me and I won't remember them all right now (mainly because I am exhausted from a week of Temodar and the fact that I stood in the sun today to see Matisyahu at the California state capitol).
So for now, here are a few amazing things in no particular order:
- The "other" Liz who joined The Liz Army is Liz Z., from Berkeley, CA. Liz is also a brain cancer survivor who survived a grade 3 anaplastic astrocytoma and a meningioma. She and I became acquainted through our shared Super Awesome Nurse at Kaiser. Liz and I brought our friends together to raise money and walk for this event. Actually, Liz Z. kicked my ass in the money raising category, and for that she is a super badass. I also talk about her in the blog entry "There is more than one Liz in this army."
- I want to give a shout out to David S. for donating to The Liz Army team. David and I have never met "in real life" but we both have grade 2 astrocytomas (with gemistocytic properties!). He is on the east coast, and I'm on the west, but our twin tumors give us a special bond. We're friends on Facebook, and through this blog, and I think it is really cool that he supports the team.
- I finally got to meet some of the crew at the National Brain Tumor Society! I didn't realize how much they read my blog and it gave me some "professional" validation for all this writing that I do.
More later. For now, here is some Matisyahu to be inspired by.
