What is Epic’s “Share Everywhere,” and how should patients use it?
Have you ever found yourself in need of sharing your medical record with other people, like new doctors or even family members?
A little more than half of people receiving healthcare in the United States do so at a health system using an electronic health record (EHR) software made by Epic. The patient-facing side of this software is an online “portal” named MyChart (which may be renamed to match your health system, such as “My UC Davis Health“).
One of the best kept secrets about MyChart is there is a feature called “Share Everywhere“ that makes it possible to share your records with people outside of your health system.
I decided to make a short tutorial about how to use Share Everywhere and answer the following questions:
How does Share Everywhere work?
What can you share?
Who can you share with?
Can you truly share your medical information everywhere?
