You leave the pharmacy with a pack mule instead of a small paper bag of meds.

You don't know if your skin hives are due to a new soap or a new medication, or a combination of the fact that you are now sensitive to everything.

You want to go on vacation and your doctor prescribes you an emergency medical kit that includes steroids in case you have brain swelling.

Liz Salmi is Communications & Patient Initiatives Director for OpenNotes at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. Over the last 15 years Liz has been: a research subject; an advisor in patient stakeholder groups; a leader in “patient engagement” research initiatives; and an innovator, educator and investigator in national educational and research projects.
