I got married
These were my vows:
We met 13 years ago when we were kids wanting to be rock stars. Then ten years later, we found ourselves in the same city at the same time.
I don’t believe in love at first sight, but after our second date I wondered if it was humanly possible to recognize that you would marry a person before the “falling in love” part happened. In my case, I think it was possible, because even though we had only been together for a couple of weeks I knew you were the right person for me.
There are details about you that speak volumes. You love your family and your friends, and you are always there to lend a hand when someone needs help. I love the way your voice changes when you play with a cat or dog and I love the excitement in your eyes when you’ve found a toy you’ve been looking for. And even though I might get annoyed when I lose at Trivial Pursuit, your pure excitement to win makes you the only person I enjoy losing to.
We dated for more than a year before I was diagnosed with cancer, and you still take care of me every day. You keep me safe in this world, and when I am with you I have the strength to conquer anything.
After two brain surgeries and a year of chemo, we already know what it is like to live in times of sickness. And now I look forward to spending the rest of my life with you in health and happiness.
I love you.
